The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Maluku Province (Malut) has reported that there are three regions that have become exporters to Malut since July 2023, namely DKI Jakarta, East Java, and South Sulawesi. The export value itself has reached USD 844.79 million, marking an 8.87% increase compared to June 2023, which was only USD 775.96 million. The Head of BPS Malut, revealed that the export volume of North Maluku Province in July 2023 reached 403.26 thousand tons, a 12.75% increase compared to June 2023, which was 357.66 thousand tons. Cumulatively, the export value of North Maluku Province from January to July 2023 amounted to USD 5,677.87 million, indicating a 16.35% increase compared to the January–July 2022 period, which was USD 4,879.84 million. Accumulatively, the export volume of North Maluku Province from January to July 2023 is 2,631.44 thousand tons, a 35.33% increase compared to January–July 2022, which was 1,944.43 thousand tons.
The exports from North Maluku Province in July 2023 included the Iron and Steel commodity group (HS 72) to China and India, the Nickel commodity group (HS 75) to China, the Inorganic Chemicals commodity group (HS 28) to China, and Fish and Shrimp (HS 03) to the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore. The exported goods from North Maluku Province, he further explained, encompass jewelry/gemstones (HS 71), fish and shrimp (HS 03), latex and damar resin (HS 13), oil seeds (HS 12), and industrial waste/residues (HS 23). The export value of goods originating from North Maluku Province, exported through other provinces in July 2023, amounted to USD 2.25 million or 0.27% of the total export value originating from North Maluku Province, which was USD 847.05 million.
