The government, in this case, the Ministry of Industry fully supports all sectors of the manufacturing industry in Indonesia in implementing the concepts of green economy, green technology and green products. This effort is one tangible manifestation of encouraging the creation of an environmentally friendly and globally competitive industrial sector. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry welcomes PT Unilever Indonesia which has built a solar panel installation project with a capacity of 2.5 MWp at the Beauty & Wellbeing and Nutrition factory located in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang. The use of solar panels is an optimal solution for industrial sectors that use high amounts of energy and intensively, in addition to being able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to the transition to renewable energy.
The government is very committed to dealing with climate change issues with various measures and policies, such as the Ministry of Industry's efforts with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM) to accelerate the use of solar energy. With a capacity of 2.5 MWp, the solar panel that will be installed in collaboration with Cikarang Listrindo is one of the largest in Jababeka. The global urgency in developing clean and green energy makes geothermal can be the key in achieving the target to develop a green economy through green energy and green industry, as well as support for Indonesia towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060. The mix of New Renewable Energy (EBT) in the national energy mix until 2022 was recorded at 14.11%, up 13.65% from the realization in 2021. The installed capacity of power plants in Indonesia reaches 81.2 gigawatts (GW) in 2022, with PLTG/GU/MG of 21.6 GW, followed by 12.5 GW of renewable power plants (6.6 GW of hydropower, 2.3 GW of PLTP, and 3 GW of bioenergy).
