The Fisheries Department of Kapuas Hulu Regency, represented by the Head of the Processing and Marketing Division of Fishery Products, Rudi Kurniawan, along with coordinating staff, held a meeting with the Maritime and Fisheries Agency (DKP) of West Kalimantan Province to discuss the Processing Suitability Certificate (SKP) last Friday. The event was attended by important figures in the fisheries industry, including the Supervisor of Marine and Fisheries Product Quality, Hermiwati, and the Developer of Fishery Product Market Institutional Plans, Nadiya Ningrum. The SKP is an official acknowledgment of adhering to specific quality standards in the fishery product processing process. Its primary goal is to provide consumers with confidence that products bearing this certificate meet the established quality standards. Two key concepts in certification are standards and quality. This certification also plays a crucial role in preventing products from being contaminated by biological, chemical, or other factors that could compromise human health.
Moreover, the SKP offers significant benefits to fish processors and entrepreneurs. The certificate assists them in obtaining other necessary certifications that enhance the competitiveness of fishery products in the market. For example, certifications such as halal certificates from the Indonesian Ulema Council's Food, Medicine, and Cosmetics Assessment Institute (LPPOM MUI) and Food and Beverage certificates from the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). Rudi Kurniawan, the Head of the Processing and Marketing Division of Fishery Products, expressed his hope that the fishery product processing groups that have received assistance will successfully obtain the SKP. He believes that this certification will show a significant improvement in the processing process compared to before receiving assistance. This will not only help fishery businesses enhance their product quality but also advance the entire fisheries industry in Kapuas Hulu Regency.
