Indonesian Herbal Products Thrive In Export Markets and Reach The Middle East

The usage of traditional herbal remedies and supplements from Indonesia is now not only popular domestically but also internationally. Their flagship products have reached 15 countries including Saudi Arabia, the United States, Australia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and others. This also includes a collaboration with distributors from Saudi Arabia since 2019, and the company chose Saudi Arabia because their registration process is stringent, and their standards are on a par with Europe.
 
The sale of Tolak Angin in Saudi Arabia is currently targeting thousands of traditional stores and they aim to penetrate modern retail stores. Saudi Arabia itself serves as a gateway for Sido Muncul to expand its product sales to the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries. The Director of Sido Muncul, receiving a visit from the Saudi Arabian distributor, Mizanain Trading & Marketing, at the Sido Muncul Factory in Bergas Subdistrict, Semarang Regency. During the meeting, they discussed ideas for expanding the sales of Tolak Angin to Middle Eastern countries. The distributor mentioned that they plan to expand the sales of Tolak Angin to neighbouring countries, not limited to Saudi Arabia, such as Yemen. The International Business Manager of Sido Muncul, stated that every year, they send around two containers of Sido Muncul products to Saudi Arabia. Sido Muncul targeted the Indonesian pilgrims' market in Saudi Arabia. Gradually, products like Tolak Angin have spread to mainstream stores and are consumed by Saudi Arabian citizens. Tolak Angin sales have increased by about 140%. After this, Tolak Angin plan to enter The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
