In August, Italian airports are anticipating 702,500 passengers, a 1.1% rise from August 2022. Foreign tourists dominate, constituting 80.1%, with 19.9% being Italian. Leading are American tourists (17.3%), followed by Spanish (4.9%), French (4.2%), and Canadian (3.6%) visitors. Among them, 35.7% are vacationing couples, and despite the high flight costs in summer 2023, 87.8% opt for economy class.
The most significant arrivals are from five airports: New York JFK, Toronto Lester B Pearson, Madrid Barajas, Seoul Incheon, and Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini, sourced from ENIT's Office of Studies and The Data Appeal Company. Online room reservations peak during the summer, particularly during Ferragosto, with 6 out of 10 rooms booked. Moreover, a significant portion of tourists favor cultural, culinary, and nature-focused tourism, rating them highly at 7 out of 10.
