The Bank Indonesia Representative Office for East Kalimantan Province organized the 2023 Export Capacity Building Program, named Export Kaltimpreneurs, for novice exporters in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) sector. The event took place at Hotel Midtown Samarinda on Wednesday (9/8). Hendik Sudaryanto, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in East Kalimantan, explained that Export Kaltimpreneurs is an education, training, and comprehensive mentoring program designed to enhance the export capabilities of UMKM with export potential in the region. The initiative aims to elevate the capacity, quality, and quantity of UMKM exports.
Hendik emphasized the importance of UMKM in the economy and stated that the program was a part of Bank Indonesia's ongoing efforts to support national economic recovery by actively developing UMKM. The training and mentoring provided are intended to improve the foreign trade competitiveness of UMKM and contribute to a more favorable balance of current transactions, sustainable economic growth, and the fulfillment of Bank Indonesia's responsibilities.
Ronny Suhendra, Head of the Industry Division of the East Kalimantan Provincial Office for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (DPPKUKM), highlighted the significance of this endeavor in advancing the prosperity of the region and assisting UMKM entrepreneurs in enhancing their business outcomes. The initiative is considered timely, aligning with Bank Indonesia's efforts to conduct capacity-building classes for novice exporters and UMKM, with the aim of fostering commodities that benefit the East Kalimantan region. It's worth noting that after field verification for business viability assessment, 17 UMKM have qualified for the training phase in the program.
