Earning USD 1 Billion, Rubber Export Value in South Sumatra Maintains Consistency Over 5 Years

The province of South Sumatra, Indonesia, has actively engaged in exporting both raw and processed materials as a strategy to boost its economy. Notably, rubber and rubber-based products constitute a significant portion of these exports. Over the span of five consecutive years, the export value of rubber and rubber-based goods from South Sumatra remained consistently above USD 1 billion. The export figures were impressive, reaching USD 2 billion in 2017 and subsequently experiencing some fluctuations, yet consistently staying above the USD 1 billion mark from 2018 to 2022. This economic stability was also reflected in the export of wood pulp, with a value exceeding USD 1 billion for three consecutive years.

Despite minor declines in the post-2017 period, the consistent export value of rubber, rubber-based products, and wood pulp in South Sumatra remained impressive, underscoring the province's economic resilience. The province managed to uphold its exports above the USD 1 billion threshold annually from 2018 to 2022. Among these exports, rubber, products derived from rubber, and wood pulp stood out as the highest contributors to the province's export value during the mentioned timeframe. This sustained economic performance speaks to the effectiveness of South Sumatra's export-focused approach in enhancing its economic stability and growth.
