West Java Attracts IDR 103.6 Trillion Investments in the First Semester of 2023

Bandung - West Java has become a favourite destination for investors to expand their businesses. This is evident from West Java's achievement as the most efficient or highest investment destination in Indonesia for five consecutive years. In the current year, the amount of investments in the first semester of 2023 has already reached Rp 103.6 trillion. The investment achievement is now at 55% of the provincial target, which is IDR 188 trillion. As of the first semester of 2023, the recorded investment value in West Java has reached IDR 103.6 trillion. High interest of investors in allocating their funds to develop businesses in West Java is due to the region's favourable infrastructure and well-qualified human resources. Moreover, the wages of workers in West Java are relatively high compared to other areas. The Governor of West Java personally offers investment opportunities door-to-door. Additionally, West Java has the most extensive toll road network and is supported by highly accessible infrastructure, energy supply, raw materials, and water resources.

To support these favourable conditions, the West Java Provincial Government will hold the West Java Investment Summit 2023 to present the potential of West Java to both domestic and foreign investors. The agenda is focused on planning projects, whether initiated by Regional Governments or private enterprises. According to data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the realisation of investments outside Java in the first quarter of 2023 contributed more significantly than Java, accounting for 52.6%, with a total value of IDR 172.9 trillion. The high contribution of regions outside Java to the total realisation of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) in the first quarter reflects the government's consistent effort to drive Indonesia's economy toward a more decentralised approach. West Java's investments are predominantly from Japanese investors, with an investment value of IDR 8.37 trillion for 1,757 projects, followed by China with an investment value of IDR 3.96 trillion for 306 projects.
