Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, wholeheartedly backs the promotion of tourism and creative economy potentials in the area of the Indonesian National Capital (IKN), East Kalimantan, during "The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno". Ministry of Tourism/Creative Economy Agency, conveyed that they have collaborated with the Indonesian National Capital Authority (OIKN) to prepare various activities aimed at marketing the tourism potentials in the IKN area. There will be focus group discussions, familiarization trips (famtrip), cultural festivals, exhibitions, and marketing missions for tourism and creative economy products. These activities will take place from August to October 2023. Head of OIKN, revealed that the IKN area is being developed as a sustainable forest city, with a composition of 25% buildings and 75% tropical rainforest. Hence, the development of sustainable tourism is deemed a suitable choice to harness the potentials within the IKN area.
The Ministry also highlighted the successful International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF) 2023 in Bali, which attracted significant commitments for green tourism development investments. This has become an appealing prospect for stakeholders participating in the International Tourism Investment Forum. Several institutions collaborated in this forum, including UNDP (United Nations Development Program), WTO (World Trade Organization), Bank Indonesia, and many other. Moreover, the event featured the signing of the Letter of Intent (LOI) between Nimo Enterprise and Mitra Jaya with the Lake Toba Authority Agency (BPODT) with a total value of approximately IDR 510 billion, as well as collaborations between the Martha Tilaar Group and three Tourism Authority Agencies.
