The Government Evaluates Visa-Free Program Based on Reciprocity, Benefits, and Security

The government is set to conduct an evaluation of the visa-free visitation program, focusing on three key principles: reciprocity, benefits, and security. This was revealed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. The Minister stated that in the past, we had a visa-free policy for visitors from 159 countries, in addition to 10 ASEAN countries. This will now be evaluated based on three criteria: reciprocity, benefits, and security, which will serve as the guiding principles. The government aims to complete this evaluation within the next month, with the objective of maximizing the potential of tourist visits to Indonesia. Although tourism targets have exceeded the upper projection or the upper limit, there are still ample opportunities for high-quality and sustainable tourism that will be pursued. Indonesia's focus is on attracting quality tourists who spend more than seven days in the country and spend a minimum of USD 1000 per tourist. The Ministry will exercise great caution because they seek tourists who will contribute to Indonesia's economy significantly.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy hopes that the influx of tourists will have a substantial impact on Indonesia's economy. The economy thrives, and hopefully the number of job opportunities in the tourism and creative economy sectors will continue to grow. Regarding the golden visa policy, The Minister revealed that it is currently in the finalization stage. The Presidential Regulation will be finalized and approved by the President soon.
