Pati Regency stands as one of the largest producers of Randu plant fiber in Indonesia, commonly known as Kapok or Kapok randu. The region of Mina Tani, renowned for its Kapok randu products, is located in the village of Karaban, Gabus Sub-district. The majority of the villagers in Karaban are engaged in the Kapok industry, encompassing activities such as collection, processing of raw materials, and even exportation. Among the enterprising individuals in the Kapok industry from Karaban is Afif, who has played a significant role in advancing Kapok randu production in his hometown. The Kapok industry he is involved in has already reached foreign markets in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Japan, and Malaysia. Afif's primary focus as a Kapok entrepreneur lies in being an exporter of Kapok fiber. The Kapok collected from farmers and collectors is processed using machinery in the factory, cleaned, packaged, and then exported. This business approach stems from an innovative idea, recognizing the potential of the village and the need for high-quality Kapok products to attract buyers from Desa Karaban.
 
Afif also has encouraged other collectors to become partners, aiming for a broader market as he consistently promotes his products on social media and aims to expand his reach to the European market. As information, there are hundreds of Kapok entrepreneurs and 30 large warehouses in Desa Karaban, with each warehouse producing an average of 1.3 to 1.5 tons of Kapok per day. Afif himself manages three warehouses dedicated to production and packaging, with an average monthly production of 35 tons. The usual price of Kapok is IDR 20,000 per kg. Afif also emphasized the need to prepare various documents for exports, acknowledging that being a Kapok entrepreneur is a complex endeavor. He aspires to see Desa Karaban transform into an industrial zone that not only exports raw materials but also produces finished products, adding more value to the industry.
