The Italian Boatbuilding Industry Experiences a Growth of 20% in 2022

In 2022, Italy's marine industry experienced a 20% growth compared to the previous year, reaching a value of EUR 7 billion. The nautical industry, including accessories and engines, is expected to surpass EUR 7 billion, indicating a 15% increase from 2021. Despite a global economic slowdown and uncertainty due to various geopolitical factors, Italy's yachting industry remains robust. Italy leads the global yachting industry, with 593 out of 1,200 superyachts under construction worldwide. The country's yachting market targets ultra-high-net-worth individuals, with an expected steady increase in their numbers in the medium term.

Sanlorenzo, a major player in the market, also shows positive signs from the global market. The average age of superyacht buyers has decreased, attracting a broader and younger customer base. The company emphasizes the importance of sustainability and is committed to developing innovative technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its ships. The Industrial Plan 2023-2025 includes introducing new yacht ranges and addressing sustainability challenges. Despite international uncertainties, the yachting sector has demonstrated resilience, significant growth, and an increasing number of new yacht constructions. The trend remains positive, with full order books for many yards until 2025 and potentially beyond.
