Indonesia's vision of becoming "Indonesia Emas 2045" is more than just an aspiration, as the country's current economic conditions support its realization. The consistent achievement of trade surplus and stable inflation rates are some of the factors contributing to this positive outlook. Deputy Minister of Trade (Wakil Menteri Perdagangan/Wamendag) Jerry Sambuaga emphasized these points during his speech at the public lecture titled "Outlook Perekonomian Indonesia 2023 menuju Indonesia Emas 2045" held at Universitas Dian Nusantara, Jakarta, on July 29, 2023.
He highlighted Indonesia's resilient economy, the positive trend it maintains, and the significant contribution of trade exports to its economic growth, which gives reasons to remain optimistic. Indonesia's potential as a major player in the regional and global arenas is evident through its successful presidency of the G20 and its current role as the Chair of ASEAN. Wamendag encouraged students to play a role in driving economic progress, such as supporting local products, particularly those from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME/UMKM). He emphasized the importance of the younger generation's support in buying and using Indonesian MSME products.
Moreover, Wamendag elaborated on various policies and programs from the Ministry of Trade aimed at preparing and empowering MSMEs to develop their businesses and become export ready. The government's efforts are focused on improving the "3Ks" of MSMEs, namely the quantity or production capacity, the quality of their products, and the continuity that enhances their competitiveness.
