The Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) of Simeulue Regency, Aceh Province, announced that a total of 190 tons of octopus from the island district have been exported to Japan. According to Isdawati, the Head of DKP of Simeulue Regency, stated in Simeulue on Friday that the export of octopus was carried out by PT Perikanan Indonesia Persero Unit Simeulue. The export has been conducted 13 times, accumulating a total of 190 tons.
The 13th shipment of 15 tons was sent, so up until now, the overall quantity of octopus from Simeulue Island exported to Japan has reached 190 tons. She also further explained that before being sent to Japan, the octopus is stored in a refrigerated warehouse in Lugu Village, East Simeulue District, Simeulue Regency. After the storage capacity is sufficient, the octopus is then shipped to the buyer in Japan, namely Nomura Trading Co Ltd, using containers through sea routes.
