Indonesia's Exports to Tunisia Reach USD 250 Million

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Tunisia expressed optimism about the increasing exports of various Indonesian products to Tunisia, as these products have gained significant popularity among the people of the country located at the northern tip of the African continent. Various Indonesian products are highly sought after by Tunisian citizens. Therefore, The Ambassador is optimistic that Indonesia's exports to Tunisia will continue to grow. Indonesia's exports to Tunisia in 2023 amount to USD 250 million, an increase compared to last year's USD 150 million. The Indonesian products exported to Tunisia include palm oil, furniture, textiles, cars, and agarwood. Indonesian furniture products, such as chairs, tables, carvings, statues, and doors, which are in high demand among Tunisian citizens, all of which are made from wood sourced from Indonesia's regions such as Jepara, Bali, Cirebon, and Bandung.

Indonesian furniture dominates around 80 percent of the domestic market in Tunisia. The furniture products are renowned for the excellent quality, making them highly sought after by Tunisian citizens regardless of the price. At Coin D’or Eljem store in El Jem, Tunisia, various Indonesian products are sold, including wooden furniture from Jepara, marble from Tulungagung, as well as paintings and sculptures from Bali. In 2005, Coin D’or Eljem bought souvenirs from Malaga, Spain, but later discovered that these products were actually from Indonesia. Since they learned that the souvenirs were from Indonesia, the owner of Coin D’or Eljem, immediately started 'hunting' for products from Indonesia. And until now, the store directly purchase products from Indonesia. The preferential trade agreement (PTA) between Indonesia and Tunisia for the next year is currently in process. The Ambassador is also optimistic that if the PTA is agreed upon, Indonesia's exports to Tunisia could rise to USD 500 million.
