The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is actively promoting the expansion of the food and beverage industry (mamin) into the global market. The mamin industry is a key driver of non-oil and gas manufacturing growth in Indonesia, supported by abundant natural resources and increasing domestic demand. Kemenperin supports the growth of the mamin industry by showcasing its products in regional and international exhibitions. In the first quarter of 2023, the mamin industry's GDP grew by 5.35%, contributing 38.61% to the non-oil and gas manufacturing GDP, making it the largest subsector in terms of GDP contribution. The industry also showed strong confidence, with the Industry Confidence Index (IKI) in the expansion category during the June 2023 survey, indicating continuous recovery for the sector.
Kemenperin continues to encourage the export of mamin products, with initiatives like the international-scale Food & Hotel Indonesia (FHI) Exhibition held in July 2023. The FHI exhibition serves as a strategic move to boost export demand by providing a platform for business expansion and new partnerships, enhancing the industry's competitiveness in the global market. The FHI 2023 exhibition is expected to attract around 750 companies, consisting of 400 local and 350 foreign companies, providing an excellent business-to-business (B2B) platform for participants to promote products, conduct business, and explore new innovations in the food and beverage industry. Additionally, Kemenperin has also collaborated with the Indonesian Embassy in Paris to facilitate 20 food and beverage companies to participate in the SIAL Paris exhibition in October 2022. This move resulted in successful transactions worth USD 33.7 million, indicating the potential for Indonesian mamin products in the international market. The ministry's efforts aim to position Indonesia as a hub for food and beverage exhibitions in Southeast Asia and boost the sector's productivity and global competitiveness.
