The potential of the fishing village of Patin in East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU Timur) has caught the attention of the international community, with a team from the American news agency, Associated Press, conducting interviews and discussions with Bupati (Regent) of OKU Timur, H Lanosin ST, on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Regent's office. The visit of the news agency was also accompanied by the Public Relations team from the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Bupati OKU Timur, Ir. H. Lanosin, hopes that the presence of the American news agency will help promote the name of OKU Timur in the eyes of the world. Riris, the Public Relations Officer of the Directorate General of Fisheries at the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, stated that OKU Timur was selected as one of the freshwater fishing samples after a series of selections, alongside other countries like Florida. The attention from the American news agency is due to the potential of the Patin village in OKU Timur.
