Coconut Farmers in Tanjung Jabung Timur Conduct First Export Abroad and Ship 320 Tons

For the first time, coconut farmers in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency have successfully exported coconuts abroad through the Nipah Panjang port, with Malaysia as the destination. In this inaugural export, a total of 320 tons of coconuts were shipped under the auspices of PT Pemula Jaya, utilizing the vessel "Kapal Harapan Bersama" bound for Batu Pahat, Malaysia. This milestone export was made possible through collaboration with UPP class 1 Nipah Panjang, Customs and Excise, and the Quarantine Office. Previously, coconuts from Tanjung Jabung Timur were sent overseas after being collected in the Guntung Indra Giri Hilir area, as it has been supported by the relevant Ministry.

The government are moving towards self-sufficiency in exporting, ensuring a more competitive price. Efforts to boost exports have been accelerated since early July 2023, and the response has been positive. Looking ahead, he hopes for a service center from the Ministry of Finance to facilitate export activities. At present, we aim for an export frequency of five times a week. Coconuts from the producing districts will be gathered in Nipah Panjang and then sent abroad. This activity is expected to encourage new exporters, as the direct route from Tanjung Jabung Timur to Nipah Panjang shortens the shipping time from 48 hours via the Inhil route to 31 hours. The successful export marks a significant achievement for coconut farmers in Tanjung Jabung Timur and opens up new opportunities for them in the international market.
