Ministry of Trade Holds Expo at Atambua Border Post To Boost Exports to Timor Leste

The Ministry of Trade in collaboration with local governments at the border between Indonesia and Timor Leste is organizing the Atambua International Expo 2023. The exhibition takes place at the Border Crossing Point (PLBN) in Motaain, Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara. The exhibition is conducted to promote the Marketing Point Motaain, a center for export promotion at the Indonesia-Timor Leste border. This exhibition is one of the efforts to strengthen Indonesia's role in trade with Timor Leste through the border region. Through this exhibition, Indonesian exporters and SMEs can directly interact with potential buyers from Timor Leste. Furthermore, the event also aims to motivate exporters and SMEs from Indonesia to expand their exports to the Timor Leste market, enhance the competitiveness of their products, and adapt to the export regulations of both countries.

The Atambua International Expo 2023 will be participated by six national exporters and nine SMEs from Belu Regency. The exhibition will also be joined by local companies and banks. The showcased products include furniture, ornamental fish and aquariums, building materials, motorcycles, other motor vehicles, motor vehicle tires, cement, cooking oil, computer equipment, agricultural tools, specialty foods, and handicrafts. Ministry of Trade will also open an Inaexport consultation clinic as a service for market information, promotion, and export opportunities that can be utilized by business actors. For information, Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to Timor Leste reached USD 292.61 million in 2022. This export value increased by 18.9% compared to the year 2021, which was USD 246.09 million.
