For the second time, Pertamina will be the main sponsor of the international event, Pertamina Grand Prix (GP) of Indonesia, which will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) from 13th to 15th October. Pertamina's President Director, stated that their participation in this event is not only to support the motorsport industry but also to boost the national economy, including the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). MotoGP event last year was able to boost West Nusa Tenggara's economy by 3.5% in the first quarter of 2022, showcasing remarkable impact. In 2022, the automotive sport event also made a contribution of around IDR 5 trillion to the national economy, acquired from the entire ecosystem supporting and positively impacted by the event. From the perspective of MSMEs, transactions worth IDR 800 billion were generated.
Approximately 4,600 direct job opportunities were created during the event. Thus, economic growth was stimulated, resulting in such substantial transactions and employment absorption. Therefore, the enthusiasm of the public is expected to be higher in the second year of Pertamina GP of Indonesia. Consequently, the impact on the economy, employment rate, and UMKM growth will also increase. During the event, Pertamina also presented The Ultimate Box, adopting the Pit Garage concept from MotoGP racers, equipped with MotoGP racing simulators imported directly from Italy. To promote the Pertamina GP of Indonesia 2023 event, The Ultimate Box will go on a roadshow to Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Medan, Batam, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Bali, and Lombok. Pertamina’s support for this international motorcycle racing event is a testament to Pertamina's commitment to boost world-class sporting events held in Indonesia.
