Aceh Release First Export of Tuna to Saudi Arabia

The Acting Governor of Aceh marked the inaugural export of 10 tons of tuna loin and tuna chunks from Aceh to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event took place at PT Yakin Pasific Tuna Warehouse, located in the Samudera Lampulo Fishing Port Area, Banda Aceh. The ceremony commenced with the inspection of the container trucks and proceeded with the sealing performed by the Acting Governor of Aceh. In his brief address, The Acting Governor expressed his hope for the continuous export of tuna, aiming for a sustained effort rather than an isolated instance. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to increase not only the frequency but also the volume of tuna exports with maintained quality to enhance the trust of foreign buyers.

The Director of Yakin Pasific Tuna Banda Aceh, regarded the 10-ton tuna export as a remarkable achievement for their company. He affirmed that their fish processing plant in the Lampulo area of Banda Aceh adheres to international standards. He also stated that they have already been able to export to various countries worldwide, including Japan, the United States, and the European Union. He credited the successful export activities to the collaboration with the startup Aruna, which facilitated connections with foreign buyers. Export permits to Saudi Arabia are relatively rare in Indonesia, and we are proud to have obtained such a permit, enabling us to conduct this inaugural export today.

Aceh is rich in marine and fisheries resources, making it highly exportable. However, the potential has not been fully realized based on the current fish production by local fishermen. Hence, the government, through the Fisheries Office, can enhance the capacities of Acehnese fishermen.
