A number of sea and river ports in East Kalimantan Province facilitated the loading of various oil and non-oil commodities for export to several destination countries, amounting to a value of USD 14.55 billion during the period of January to June 2023. The export destinations include China, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, India, and South Korea according to Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Kalimantan Province. The oil commodities being exported include oil and gas products, while the non-oil commodities include mineral fuels, animal or vegetable fats and oils, various chemical products, and organic chemicals. The ports in Kaltim that handled the export goods worth USD 14.55 billion include Pelabuhan Samarinda in Samarinda, Pelabuhan Semayang in Balikpapan, Tanjung Bara in Kutai Timur Regency, and Pelabuhan Adang Bay in Paser Regency.
The export value from several ports in Kaltim amounting to USD 14.55 billion has experienced a decline compared to the period of January to June 2022, which was valued at USD 15.99 billion. The details are as follows: the commodities loaded from Pelabuhan Samarinda during the period of January to June 2023 were worth USD 4.34 billion, showing an increase compared to the same period in 2022. Next, the commodities loaded at Pelabuhan Balikpapan amounted to USD 3.33 billion, slightly decreasing compared to the same period in the previous year. At Pelabuhan Tanjung Bara, the export commodities loaded were worth USD 2.32 billion, experiencing a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2022. Furthermore, the export commodities loaded through Pelabuhan Muara Berau in Berau Regency amounted to USD 928.87 million. Previously, there were no recorded exports from this port. Lastly, the export commodities loaded through Pelabuhan Adang Bay during the period of January to June 2023 were valued at USD 1 billion, experiencing a slight decrease compared to the same period in the previous year.
