Indonesia's export and import activities heavily rely on the efficiency of logistics, which directly impacts production costs and the final prices of goods. Unfortunately, in 2023, Indonesia's logistics performance index (LPI) fell significantly to the 63rd position, a decline of 17 places from its 2018 ranking at 46. To tackle the logistical challenges posed by the country's diverse geography and environmental conditions, the government has initiated the National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE). This digital platform fosters collaboration between different ministries, relevant companies, and stakeholders in the logistics industry, ensuring the smooth flow of goods from ship arrivals to warehouses and factories, with the goal of optimizing logistics and reducing overall costs. The NLE implementation is guided by Presidential Instruction Number 5 of 2020, focusing on the Arrangement of the National Logistics Ecosystem, supported by the National Strategy for Corruption Prevention (Stranas PK). By embracing digital collaboration through NLE, the government aims to enhance efficiency in export-import operations and domestic trade within and across islands.
In support of NLE's goals, various government agencies have come together to work in synergy. For instance, Bea Cukai Pangkalpinang and Karantina Pertanian Pangkalpinang collaborated on a socialization and assistance program for the pilot of SSm QC Export, where single submission customs quarantine procedures were streamlined for improved risk management and joint inspections. Likewise, Bea Cukai Ambon participated in a follow-up meeting to discuss the implementation of Stranas PK for NLE at the Ambon Class I Port Authority office. These collaborative efforts not only strive to streamline logistics but also aim to positively impact regional economies by facilitating smoother and more efficient trade activities. With the right measures and digital platforms like NLE in place, Indonesia hopes to overcome its logistical challenges and further boost its economic growth through seamless export and import operations.
