Customs and Excise at Nanga Badau, Badau District, Kapuas Hulu Region, West Kalimantan, recorded that from January to June 2023, state revenue from export activities at the Badau Integrated Border Crossing Point (PLBN) on the Indonesia-Malaysia border has reached IDR 8.7 billion. The agricultural and fisheries products of Kapuas Hulu hold promising potential to penetrate the global market at the border, and the community needs to seize these opportunities. To enhance the economic growth of the community through export activities, it is necessary for all relevant institutions and agencies to collaborate in supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in exploring and developing the existing potential in Kapuas Hulu District.
The realized exports during the first semester of 2023, from January to June 2023, consisted of 40.7 tons of agricultural and fisheries products, resulting in a total export foreign exchange income of IDR 8.7 billion. Several dominant fishery products in the export activities include freshwater fish such as catfish, carp, and snakehead fish. Meanwhile, agricultural products consist of pepper plants and other agricultural produce. The realization of these exports indicates economic progress in the border community, highlighting the need for joint commitment to support entrepreneurs in accessing the global market at the border. The Head of the Customs and Technical Support Service Section at the Nanga Badau Customs and Excise Main Office (KPPBC), further added that the MSME corner program and export clinics, through assistance to entrepreneurs and MSMEs, will continue to be implemented and improved to explore the export potential of other flagship commodities such as honey, processed wood, rubber, arowana fish, and other potential products.
