The Working Committee for the Transition to Electric Energy of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) supports PT PLN (Persero) in accelerating the electric vehicle ecosystem. This significant step requires support from all stakeholders. DPR RI Commission VI member Herman Khaeron believes that PLN cannot promote electric vehicle penetration in Indonesia alone. Efforts by PLN to expand electric vehicle infrastructure and provide incentives to the public need support through investment climate and policies that facilitate a complete transition to electric vehicles. Herman emphasizes the importance of collaboration between PLN and other sectors to achieve the targets set by PLN.
Similarly, DPR RI Commission VI member Deddy Yevri Hanteru Sitorus hopes for a greater contribution from PLN in the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, not only in the upstream but also downstream. Deddy is optimistic that the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia will continue to grow and can become a new business opportunity. PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo explains that PLN has made various efforts to accelerate the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. PLN has established partnerships with electric vehicle manufacturers, fabrication companies, and conversion workshops. PLN's support has created a mature ecosystem to accelerate the transformation of the transportation sector from fossil fuel-based to domestically based electric power, contributing directly to emission reduction. PLN has prepared a complete ecosystem from the supply of reliable electricity to the operation of public electric vehicle charging stations, battery exchange stations, and home charging services. PLN also offers the Electric Vehicle Digital System (EVDS) platform, integrating customers' electricity and electric vehicle needs through the PLN Mobile app.
