Indonesia Stands as the Sole International Participant in Russia's Creative Industry Festival, Captivating Visitors with Indonesian Designers' Works

The "Moscow Fest Edition - Russian Creative Week 2023," a creative industry festival held in Moscow, Russia from July 3rd to 9th, 2023, featured the participation of Indonesian fashion designers such as Poppy Dharsono, Musa Widyatmodjo, Naniek S. Rachmat, and Koyko. The showcased collections at the Indonesian Pavilion successfully captivated visitors, featuring a range of modern-ethnic fashion and accessories created by various micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Garut, Lombok, and Sumatra. The Indonesian fashion and accessories displayed at the pavilion garnered significant interest and were well-received by visitors in Moscow.

The festival provided a remarkable opportunity for Indonesian fashion designers to gain exposure on the international stage, according to Poppy Dharsono, Chairperson of the Association of Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs (APPMI) and head of the Indonesian delegation. Throughout the festival, the Indonesian designers had the chance to showcase their fashion collections through mini shows and participate as speakers in panel discussions addressing the development of the fashion industry in Russia and Indonesia. The designers encouraged their counterparts to adopt an international mindset and target foreign markets, emphasizing the potential of the Russian market for Indonesian manufacturers and the positive impact on the fashion and accessories MSME sector. Meetings were also held to explore potential B2B collaborations with CEOs and representatives of Russian clothing retail distributors, boutiques, and fashion startups. The Indonesian Pavilion, located near the Kremlin, was the only international participant representing the fashion and accessories sector. The Festival marked the beginning of a series of events aiming to promote the development of the Russian creative industry throughout 2023. For the fashion industry, a larger-scale exhibition is planned for October-November 2023, where Indonesian fashion designers will be invited to participate once again.
