The Tourism Office of Southeast Sulawesi Province is preparing seven priority tourism destinations. These destinations will serve as support for tourist attractions in Wakatobi Regency. The Head of the Tourism Office of Southeast Sulawesi Province stated that this year, the Governor has issued a Decree No. 310, regarding seven priority destinations in Southeast Sulawesi as support for Wakatobi Regency. Other potential tourism destinations as priority destinations for tourists needs to be highlighted. Especially this year, the target number of tourist visits to the Southeast Sulawesi region set by the central government is quite high, around 6.6 million trips throughout 2023.
The Head of the Tourism Office of Southeast Sulawesi Province explained that the seven priority tourism destinations include the Kendari-Toronipa-Labengki Main Road, the Padamarang Island Area in Kolaka Regency. The Padamarang Island area located in Kolaka Regency is designed as a future Anoa conservation area. It will certainly be very attractive for tourists. Other priority tourism destinations include the Rawa Opa Watumohai National Park in South Konawe Regency, the Mangrove area in North Buton Regency, the Liangkabori karst area in Muna Regency. Furthermore, the Matarombeo karst area located in North Kolaka Regency, and the Wolio Palace area on Buton Island and Lambusango. These seven areas will be the direction for the tourism development strategy in Southeast Sulawesi. The government will gradually expand to other regions as well, but of course, it must be adjusted to the financial conditions of the Tourism Office. National target for tourism, this year is to reach 1.2 to 1.4 billion domestic tourist trips. From the national tourism target, Southeast Sulawesi is given a target quota of around 6.6 million trips throughout 2023. The target for domestic tourist trips is part of the National Movement for Tourism in Indonesia (Gernas BBWI) agenda initiated by President Joko Widodo.
