The government is evaluating the electric motorcycle purchase incentive program, which has seen low demand despite offering a subsidy of IDR 7 million per unit. One consideration is easing the eligibility requirements to make it easier for people to qualify. Moeldoko, Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), stated that the government would review the Minister of Finance Regulation that sets the criteria for receiving the electric motorcycle incentive. However, he emphasized that any relaxation of eligibility criteria should not create the perception of subsidizing the wealthy. The program's uptake has been low, and efforts to increase awareness and socialization are needed.
Meanwhile, PT PLN (Persero), a state-owned enterprise, is collaborating with Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) to standardize the infrastructure for two-wheeled electric vehicles. They aim to make batteries interchangeable between manufacturers and track them through a shared digital platform. PLN is committed to supporting the growth of electric vehicle usage by providing reliable electricity supply and charging infrastructure. By developing integrated standards, they aim to streamline and enhance the ecosystem for electric vehicles in Indonesia.
