Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, revealed that foreign tourist arrivals (foreign tourists) in Bali from January to May 2023 reached 4.25 million visits, marking a 312% increase compared to the same period last year. Based on the data, the Island of the Gods dominated 50% of foreign tourist arrivals in 2023, targeting a total of 8.5 million visits. In the same event, the Head of Bali Tourism Agency, stated that foreign tourist arrivals in Bali from January to June reached 2,390,585 people. The countries dominating the tourist arrivals to Bali were Australia, followed by India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and China. China has seen a significant increase, previously ranking ninth. The number of flights from China has increased, and we hope to secure the second position as in 2019, with 1.2 million arrivals. As of June, we have recorded 105,037 arrivals. Meanwhile, Malaysia ranked seventh in terms of tourist arrivals, followed by South Korea, Germany, and Russia.
Regarding the anticipation and management of unruly tourists, The Head of Bali Tourism Agency stated that they have maintained regular communication with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's communication bureau and held meetings with the Tourism Governance Acceleration Task Force of the Bali Provincial Government to collaborate and coordinate efforts in addressing various tourism issues in the region. With the ongoing efforts, they aim for Bali's tourism to be of higher quality, sustainable, and dignified in the future.
