The National Committee on Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) has completed the masterplan for the halal industry in Indonesia. The masterplan is awaiting the appropriate time for its release. According to Afdhal Aliasar, Director of Halal Product Industry at KNEKS, the masterplan, known as the Indonesian Halal Industry Masterplan (MPIHI) 2023-2029, carries the tagline "Halal Industry for Sustainable Economy." The theme aligns with global developments and Indonesia's economic transformation direction as part of its global participation for the future.
The MPIHI consists of four main strategies, eleven main programs, and eight indicators that serve as instruments to achieve the expected targets. The implementation of the MPIHI will be depicted through a roadmap for the development of the halal industry from 2023 to 2029. This roadmap will serve as a guide for all stakeholders involved in realizing the vision of making Indonesia a global halal industry center. The roadmap includes seven priority projects, such as infrastructure development, regulatory strengthening, industry player empowerment, international collaboration, halal-friendly tourism development, strengthening the halal value chain, and enhancing halal product assurance.
Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the masterplan was created to align the interests of stakeholders in the halal industry and bridge the real sector of the halal industry with the Islamic finance sector in Indonesia. He stated that the integration of the masterplan with national and regional development agendas will benefit the transformation of Indonesia's Islamic economy and finance. The Vice President highlighted that Indonesia's position in the Islamic economy and finance sector has advanced and achieved significant accomplishments internationally, which will serve as a foundation for Indonesia to become a global halal producer by 2024.
