The grand finale of the Java Coffee Culture (JCC) and Peneleh Festival 2023 took place on Tunjungan Street on Sunday (09/07/2023). Organized by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with the Surabaya City Government, the event was themed "Coffee Diplomacy Across Generations." JCC, which began on Friday (07/07/2023), featured coffee industry players from across Indonesia, with a focus on Java's coffee commodities. The event aimed to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth through the tourism and MSME sectors. Filianingsih Hendarta, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, highlighted the economic challenges faced by the nation amidst global and domestic uncertainties. Coffee commodities and historical tourism were seen as avenues for strong, inclusive, balanced, and sustainable economic growth. In his speech at the JCC & Peneleh Festival 2023, he stated that the development of historical tourism and coffee processing could contribute to national economic recovery.Filia further explained that the JCC and Peneleh Festival 2023 played a vital role in promoting the development of coffee commodities and historical tourism. This was achieved through three aspects: first, increasing exposure, competitiveness, and domestic as well as export sales of coffee commodities; second, classifying processed coffee products; and third, enhancing exposure to historical tourism. The JCC & Peneleh Festival 2023 event attracted over 1,000 visitors and involved 42 MSMEs, resulting in a transaction value of IDR 25.63 billion. Filia expressed pride in surpassing the target of IDR 18 billion in transaction value for the event.
