Sei Lekop Fish Crackers from Bintan Penetrate International Markets

The fish cracker industry center in Sei Lekop Village, East Bintan Subdistrict, Bintan Regency, continues to thrive and expand to neighboring countries. The processed products have been successfully marketed in Malaysia and Singapore through resellers according to one of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) entrepreneurs of Sei Lekop Fish Crackers. Furthermore, these processed products are also sold online, and they can be shipped in quantities ranging from 100 to 300 kilograms, and the MSMEs have been selling online for 2 years now.

There are currently 20 resellers spread across several regions, located in Bintan Regency, Karimun, Tanjungpinang City, Batam, Pekanbaru, and Tembilahan District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The MSMEs representative also explained that with a team of 5 workers, they can produce approximately 50 kilograms of fish crackers per day. Some will clean the fish, some will prepare the dough, while others handle the drying process. The target is to produce up to 1 ton of fish crackers per month, and during festive seasons such as Eid, it can reach 1.5 tons. The Representative also mentioned that her SME can produce around 200 to 300 kilograms of fish crackers per month and for the production of these fish crackers, they use a type of fish called tamban. Meanwhile, Sei Lekop Village Head, hopes that the innovation in Sei Lekop Fish Crackers from the SMEs will gain better exposure. The Village Head expressed hope that the SME entrepreneurs in Sei Lekop can continue to collaborate with the local government at the village and Bintan Regency levels to market the fish crackers at the national level.
