PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI), a member of ID Food, has exported 27.4 tons of seaweed, specifically the seaweed species Eucheuma Spinosum to China. The export was conducted by the Commercial Director of ID Food, and the Commercial and Development Director of PPI. The exported seaweed is a type of Eucheuma Spinosum, which is a red algae species cultivated in Indonesian waters. The seaweed for export originates from Bau Bau, Southeast Sulawesi. Previously, PPI has also exported dried Eucheuma Cottoni seaweed to South Korea.

The Commercial and Development Director stated that Indonesia has a diverse marine biodiversity with various seaweed species suitable for cultivation, including Seaweed Eucheuma Cottoni, Seaweed Eucheuma Spinosum, and Seaweed Gracilaria Sp. PPI is committed to expanding the seaweed export business by promoting international trade within the global value chain. PPI collaborated with CV Delton to explore export markets for seaweed products, along with working with local farmers to stimulate national economic growth and showcase Indonesia's commodity potential in meeting the demand for seaweed overseas. In the future, PPI will continue to develop other export potentials from Indonesia to China, leveraging its position within the ID Food state-owned enterprise as a trade and logistics aggregator.
