A meeting took place between Vice Governor of Gorontalo, accompanied by the Head of the Investment and Integrated Licensing Service Agency, the Head of Fisheries, and the Head of Maritime Affairs of Gorontalo Province, together with PT. Great Eastern Marine (GEM). PT. Great Eastern Marine (GEM) plans to make a significant investment in Gorontalo Province. As a Foreign Direct Investment company operating in the fisheries and logistics industries, it intends to establish Gorontalo as a trading and export hub for tuna in northern Sulawesi. The President Director of PT. GEM, mentioned that the investment value entering Gorontalo will be substantial. The government will shorten the distance for tuna exporters in Gorontalo by directly exporting their tuna from Gorontalo to their destination countries, particularly Japan. The government will also station several cargo aircraft units in Gorontalo. This is to facilitate tuna industry players in Gorontalo to export their catch to various countries. The Vice Governor, upon receiving an audience with the President Director of PT. GEM, expressed the positive reception of the provincial government of Gorontalo towards this investment plan. The inflow of this investment is expected to have a positive impact on Gorontalo Province, especially in increasing the income of business actors, particularly in the tuna industry, considering the magnitude of this investment.

The entry of this investment is also expected to increase the investment value of Gorontalo Province, improve the welfare of the community, and create new job opportunities in Gorontalo. Meanwhile, the Head of the Investment and Integrated Licensing Service Agency of Gorontalo Province, stated that they would facilitate any investor planning to invest in Gorontalo by simplifying the company's licensing process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The Agency will promptly process the licensing applications of every business actor who approaches, provided that all requirements are met properly and accurately. During the meeting, the Vice Governor was accompanied by the Head of the Investment and Integrated Licensing Service Agency, the Head of Fisheries, and the Head of Transportation. The local team from PT. GEM in attendance included representatives of the Gorontalo Tuna Association.
