Sinjai Regency Exports 11 Tons of Grouper Fish to China

The Sinjai Regency in South Sulawesi has exported 11 tons of grouper fish to China. The local government of Sinjai is also aiming to export fisheries commodities to 3 other countries, including Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. For now, a total of 11 tons or 1 container of fresh frozen grouper fish has been exported for the first time by the Regent. The plan is to target 3 other countries, namely Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam, for grouper fish exports, according to the Head of the Department of Industry, Trade, and Energy and Mineral Resources in Sinjai. It was a;sp stated that this is the first time Sinjai has exported grouper fish abroad. Previously, the exports were only regional and sent through Makassar. The exporter buys fish directly from the fishermen. The selling price is negotiated between the fishermen and the exporter. However, this method is more advantageous because they no longer need to transport the fish to Makassar; they can directly deliver them from Sinjai to the exporter. PT Lontara Jaya Sakti is the exporter receiving fish from Sinjai. They have requested a bi-monthly supply to meet their demand. If the fish supply runs smoothly, they will request two shipments per month because the demand is quite high. The selling price for the 11 tons is nearly IDR 2 billion.

Meanwhile, Regent of Sinjai, expressed his pride and gratitude for witnessing one of the entrepreneurs who dared to come to Sinjai Regency to invest and directly export their products overseas. Furthermore, this export activity also puts Sinjai Regency on the map. This is something that makes the government proud because Sinjai Regency indeed has extraordinary marine resources potential, but until now, these resources have been utilized by the fishermen. However, it has never been labeled with the name of Sinjai Regency because they were always taken directly to Makassar. The regent also added that they were grateful to PT Lontara Jaya Sakti for demonstrating their commitment, especially their trust in investing and collaborating with the local government in the fisheries sector.
