The agricultural sector serves as a pillar of economic growth in Ciamis Regency. This was emphasized by the Regent of Ciamis, during the 51st Agricultural Achievement Day (HKP) held at the Athletics Stadium in Ciamis. The agricultural sector, particularly food security, is of utmost importance. According to the Regent, if the agricultural sector remains strong, food security will also be robust. All of this is also inseparable from the contribution and efforts of the farmers in Ciamis Regency. As the Regent and Chairman of the Ciamis Regency Farmers Association (KTNA), he highly appreciates the significant contributions made by the farmers towards Ciamis' food security. He urged the heads of government agencies and the Ciamis Regency administration to enhance their support for the farmers. In order to optimize our natural resources, there must be efforts to improve the human resources of the farmers, so that their results can be more optimal and enhanced. Furthermore, the Regent mentioned that Ciamis has made significant contributions to Indonesia as a whole. One example is its role as a national food barn and the second-largest supplier of chicken nationwide.
The Regent expressed that the Wira Karya Medal bestowed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia is rightfully owned by the farmers of Ciamis Regency. It was also stated that the agricultural awards are not for the Regent, but they belong to all agricultural warriors in Ciamis Regency. The Chairman of the West Java Farmers Association (KTNA), added that agriculture remains a vital sector even when other sectors experience a decline in economic growth as while other sectors experience a downturn, the agricultural sector continues to thrive, and there has been an increase in exports from 2022 to 2023.
