Gresik Regency Government Improve The Infrastructure of South Gresik To Support Agriculture and Healthcare Sectors

The Gresik Regency Government is enhancing food security through agriculture and improving public healthcare access by investing in road infrastructure. As a preliminary step, the government is constructing the Sidoraharjo Road in Kedamean Subdistrict. Regent of Gresik states that the constructed road will serve as a transportation support for the agricultural products contributing to food security. Additionally, the government aims to minimize the impacts of extreme climate conditions, such as El Nino. The Sidoraharjo-Kesambenkulon Road will also serve as an alternative route between Kedamean and Weringinanom Subdistricts, providing access to Gresik Sehati Hospital (RSGS). This will facilitate transportation for the residents of southern Gresik. The local government has allocated a budget of IDR 4.1 billion for the construction and in early May, the roadbed preparation and material testing were conducted by an independent laboratory at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya. Currently, the physical progress has reached the stage of soil excavation and the installation of bamboo cribs for the construction of retaining walls. In 2023, the government plan to complete the road to support the agricultural sector, making it easier for farmers during harvest season.

In addition to the Sidoraharjo-Kesambenkulon Road, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency is also currently working on an access road to the Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) in Belahanrejo, Kedamean. When the road access and TPST are completed, hopefully by the end of 2023, economic activities for the community can commence. In the future, this TPST will be able to accommodate waste from four subdistricts, namely Menganti, Kedamean, Driyorejo, and Wringinanom. The plan is for the South Gresik TPST to function similarly to the Ngipik Landfill, which utilizes RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) machines for waste processing. This demonstrates the seriousness of the Gresik Regency Government in addressing the mounting waste issue .
