The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Egypt welcomes the significant opportunity for importing Indonesian halal products into the Egyptian market. Despite the challenging global economic conditions and the prevalence of inflation, opportunities always arise regardless of the circumstances. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Egypt mentioned that the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo is making efforts to facilitate the import of Indonesian products into Egypt by removing trade barriers, including activating a trade compensation scheme between businesses in both countries. The Embassy also assists Egyptian importers in finding markets for their export products, thus creating favorable supply positions. Director of Fayomei for Import & Export mentioned that the products they import from Indonesia are halal processed food products such as canned sardines, canned tuna, cocoa powder, grated coconut, and shortening (a fat widely used in bread and pastry production). The Director also stated that they are the official agent of Afia International Co for Bani Suef and Elmenia Provinces, importing refined palm oil from Indonesia.

Egypt's population which reaches 110 million people is a significant market for Indonesian fisheries and seafood products. The report from the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), stating that during the period of January-February 2023, Indonesian fishery product exports to Egypt reached USD 1.63 million, a 600% increase compared to 233,000 USD during the same period last year. Furthermore, the value of cocoa butter imports from Indonesia reached 1.46 million USD, a 3,084% increase compared to the same period in 2022, which amounted to 46,000 USD. The export value of cocoa powder to Egypt reached 964,000 USD, while palm oil and its derivatives reached 80 million USD.
