Ports in East Kalimantan Load Exports Reaching USD 12.6 Billion

Several sea and river ports in the province of East Kalimantan during the period of January-May 2023 have loaded various oil and non-oil commodities for export to various destination countries, with a value of USD 12.6 billion. The destination countries for such exports include China, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, India, and South Korea, according to Associate Expert Statistician at the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Kalimantan. The oil commodities exported were oil and gas products, while non-oil commodities included mineral fuels, animal or vegetable fats and oils, various chemical products, and organic chemicals. The ports in East Kalimantan that loaded exports worth USD 12.6 billion included Samarinda Port, Balikpapan Port, Tanjung Bara Port in Kutai Timur Regency, and Adang Bay Port in Paser Regency.

The export value from several ports in East Kalimantan, amounting to USD 12.6 billion, increased by 342.25% compared to the January-May 2022 period, which was worth USD 2.85 billion. The breakdown of commodities loaded from each port are, the Samarinda Port in the January-May 2023 period amounted to USD 3.82 billion, an increase of 322.08% compared to the same period in 2022, the Balikpapan Port amounted to USD 2.78 billion, a 629.55% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, the Tanjung Bara Port loaded export commodities worth USD 1.97 billion, experiencing an increase of 260.56% compared to the same period in 2022, the Bontang Port had a value of USD 1.88 billion, experiencing an increase of 289.85% compared to January-May 2022, and the Adang Bay Port in the January-May 2023 period amounted to USD 837.23 million, experiencing an increase of 304.52% compared to the same period in the previous year, which recorded USD 206.97 million.
