Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), successfully convinced South Korean officials to develop modern agriculture in Indonesia during a high-level agriculture minister meeting at the G20 India. The discussions focused on three key points, including modern farming and providing as many internship opportunities as possible for Indonesian millennial farmers. The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening the agricultural sector in both countries, particularly through increased productivity using mechanization technology and creating internship opportunities for Indonesian millennial farmers.
South Korea has committed to assisting Indonesia in implementing agricultural technology and is even willing to accept a large number of millennial farmers from Indonesia for internships. The ministers agreed to provide ample space for millennial farmers to intern, which will be formalized through a letter of intent between Korea and Indonesia. Additionally, Indonesia encouraged South Korea to open up import opportunities for domestic agricultural products, as there are currently many Indonesian agricultural products entering the Korean market, including plantation, livestock, and horticultural products.
Minister SYL's presence at the meeting in India is crucial for determining the future acceleration and development of the agricultural sector. His discussions with South Korean officials pave the way for advancing agriculture and fostering bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
