Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, aims to attract investments of USD 6-8 billion (around IDR 89-119 trillion) in the tourism and creative economy sector, with the goal of creating 4.4 million new jobs by 2024. Sandiaga stated that this investment target would contribute to the creation of millions of job opportunities in the coming years. The plan is to allocate the received investments towards the development of high-quality five-star hotels in super-priority tourism destinations (DPSP) and ten priority tourism destinations.
During discussions with both domestic and foreign investors, Sandiaga emphasized the intention to encourage more direct flights to Indonesia. Toni Fernandes, CEO of Air Asia Group, expressed interest in increasing flights to bring more tourists to Indonesia and to showcase the country's diverse offerings beyond Bali. Additionally, Fernandes expressed interest in investing in the construction of quality hotels to support Indonesia's vast tourism potential and solidify its position as a major player in the tourism sector.The discussions also involved proposals for direct flights from both domestic and international sources to priority tourism destinations, as well as investment opportunities in the Sanur and Kura-kura Special Economic Zones (KEK) in Bali.
