Surrounded by the Java Sea, Sunda Strait, and Indian Ocean, Banten holds significant potential in marine resources and fisheries. The data on Capture Fisheries Production in 2022 shows a total of 67,759.28 tons with a production value of IDR 2.24 trillion, aquaculture production amounted to 111,599.30 tons with a production value of IDR 2.49 trillion, the vannamei shrimp production per hectare reached 4 tons, also there are opportunities for freshwater aquaculture, inland waters, brackish water, and marine cultivation, covering an area of 27,562 hectares. Additionally, Banten serves as a connection between the islands of Sumatra and Java. Banten is strategically located along the National and International Trade Routes, making it part of the circulation of trade in Asia and international markets. Not only that, the Provincial Government of Banten also ensures various licensing facilitations for investors. The Banten Provincial Government is committed to optimizing the development of Minapolitan areas in five regions to realize marine and fisheries industrialization. Furthermore, the Banten Provincial Government is constructing the Binuangeun-Cikeusik South Banten Integrated Fishery Port, which is being developed to meet international and modern fish landing base standards.
Based on data by the Ministry of Investment, investment realization in Banten for the first quarter of 2023 reached IDR 25.7 trillion. This represents a 49.85% increase compared to the investment realization in the first quarter of 2022. The significant amount of invested capital has led to the employment of 26,610 Indonesian workers. Banten Province ranks fifth in Indonesia in terms of investment realization during the first quarter of 2023. By this, the Banten Provincial Government will continue to stimulate investment growth, by continuously promote the potentials in the region, such as the fisheries sector.
