Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture Implements Modern Smart Farming to Anticipate Climate Change

Minister of Agriculture emphasized that climate change cannot be addressed with ordinary measures. It is also stated that innovative and breakthrough solutions are necessary to tackle the threats posed by climate change, one of which is through Smart Farming. The Ministry of Agriculture has programs in place to address the global food crisis, climate change, and the impacts of El Niño on food production and supply. One of the programs is the implementation of smart farming, which focuses on resource efficiency, such as the use of water in agricultural land and environmentally friendly organic fertilizers. Smart farming is expected to minimize the impacts of climate change and El Niño. Additionally, it aims to enhance food production efficiency and promote environmental sustainability.

The purpose of showcasing smart farming at the technological exhibition is to introduce Indonesian farmers and the public to the concept that modern agriculture does not have to be expensive or difficult, but rather requires specific skills. Low Cost Precision, a method of smart farming development, utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support agricultural activities. P4S Swen Inovasi Mandiri also developed smart farming techniques using the concept of Small Scale Integrated Farming System with Zero Waste, which integrates various agricultural activities without generating waste emphasizing return to nature and promotes natural and environmentally friendly practices. This approach allows for the utilization of resources while providing economic value to farmers, even with limited land ownership. It contributes to a value chain that fulfills the food needs of the community.
