The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh recently organized a Sharing & Networking event between members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (IndoCham) and the Indonesia-Cambodia Business Club (ICBC) at the Indonesian Embassy's Wisma Duta in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Indonesian Ambassador to Phnom Penh highlighted the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Cambodia, which has been closely established in various fields since 1959. In the economic sector, Cambodia serves as an alternative market for Indonesian products, particularly packaged food and beverages, household and automotive care, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and batik.
The event aimed to provide an overview of the challenges and business opportunities in Cambodia, with the goal of promoting and encouraging the export of regional flagship products to the Cambodian market. The event also provided an opportunity for members of the DPD to network with Indonesian and Cambodian businesspeople affiliated with IndoCham and ICBC. A representative of ICBC and an Indonesian product importer also shared experience that introducing Indonesian products in Cambodia was initially challenging. However, Indonesian products such as Indomie, Milkita candies, and Tropicana Slim low-calorie sugar have become favorites in Cambodia. There are vast opportunities for Indonesian product exports in Cambodia. Vice President of IndoCham also stated that IndoCham is ready to act as a local partner in introducing and promoting the export of regional flagship products to Cambodia.
