A group of teenagers has set up camp at Curug Layung, a tranquil tourist spot located at an altitude of 1,409 meters above sea level, aiming to boost the popularity of the destination as a sports tourism site. Led by tourism management students from Stiepar Yapari Bandung, the event, called Summercamp, includes hiking, games, and camping activities. The participants, consisting of students from various backgrounds, are exploring the natural beauty of Curug Layung and promoting it as a sports tourism destination.
The Summercamp event, attended by around 25 participants, aims to not only provide an academic experience but also to raise awareness of Curug Layung as a tourism destination. Despite the challenges of accessibility, the organizers believe that there is great potential for further development in the area. The participants, including junior high school students and university students, are gaining valuable outdoor experiences and expanding their networks through this sports tourism initiative.
Sport tourism is still relatively unfamiliar to many Indonesians, although the government has organized national and international events such as Tour de Singkarak. The organizers of the Summercamp hope to educate the public about the concept of sport tourism and its various activities, such as hiking and exploring tourist attractions. Their objective is to showcase Curug Layung's potential as a competitive destination and overcome challenges such as road conditions and the lack of proper lighting along the way. As tourism students, they see their visit to Curug Layung as an opportunity to analyze and understand the tourism potential and management, ultimately contributing to the development of tourism in Indonesia, particularly in West Java.
