West Kalimantan's January-April Trade Balance Surplus of USD 531.92 Million

The Head of the Trade and Services Working Team at the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in West Kalimantan (Kalbar), Martalena, stated that the trade balance of Kalbar for the period of January-April 2023 had a surplus of 531.92 million US dollars. It is also explained that out of the total export value of 665.28 million US dollars for January-April 2023, Kalbar's exports were contributed by three main commodity groups. Inorganic Chemicals (HS28) accounted for USD 251.14 million, Animal/Vegetable Fats and Oils (HS15) accounted for USD 155.01 million, and Various Chemical Products (HS38) accounted for USD 81.17 million. Among these three commodity groups, HS28 experienced a decrease of 1.27% compared to the same period in the previous year. Similarly, HS15 also experienced a decrease of 33.49%. On the other hand, HS38 saw an increase of 927.47%. Regarding the export destinations for Kalbar in January-April 2023, the top three countries were China with an export value of USD 209.64 million, followed by India with USD 177.56 million, and Malaysia with USD 70.84 million.

As for the import value of USD 133.36 million in West Kalimantan, it consisted of three main commodity groups. Mineral Fuels (HS27) accounted for USD 44.06 million, USD Machinery/Mechanical Appliances (HS84) accounted for 38.11 million, and Rubber and Rubber Articles (HS40) accounted for USD 12.22 million. For imports to West Kalimantan from three countries during the period of January-April 2023, China accounted for USD 48.51 million, Malaysia USD 43.74 million, and Laos USD 4.76 million.
