The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Java reported in June 2023 that the export value in the agricultural sector in the region had increased during the period of January-April 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. According to the Head of BPS West Java, stated that the agricultural export value during the period of January-April 2022 reached USD 39.52 million. Meanwhile, in the period of January-April 2023, the agricultural export value increased by 13.24% to USD 47.39 million.
The agricultural sector contributes 0.52% of the total sectors exported from West Java, while the oil and gas sector contributes 1.06%, and mining 0.08%. Therefore, exports from West Java are still dominated by the processing industry. However, it is also noted that the overall export value of West Java experienced a significant monthly decline in April 2023 compared to March 2023. In March 2023, the export value of both the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors from West Java reached USD 3.2 billion. However, in April 2023, the export value of both sectors decreased by 29.4% to USD 2.26 billion.
Furthermore, when comparing on a yearly basis, the export value from West Java in April 2023 also decreased compared to April 2022. In April 2022, the export value of both the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors from West Java reached USD 3.45 billion. Thus, there was a decline of 34.64% in April 2023. But there was also fasting month factors, which leads to productivity decrease and it is hoped to be only seasonal, and will get back to improve. It is also stated that the decline in export value was also influenced by the demand from importing countries. The number will be continue to be monitor and there will be strategic measures to improve.
