According to the Acting Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the development of digital technology demands the availability of adequate digital services in terms of quantity and quality. The presence of digital technology and the inherent complexity of challenges make digital transformation one of the main instruments in realizing the vision of Indonesia Maju by 2045. Moreover, it is also emphasized that digital transformation needs to be promoted collaboratively to be inclusive so all layers of society can access digital infrastructure evenly and safely, empowering so the society is capable of utilizing digital technology productively while creating added value in its utilization, and sustainable so the society can continuously experience the benefits of digital technology and support the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As the central ministry overseeing digital transformation, it was also stated that the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology will continue to prepare the prerequisites for implementing digital transformation in 2024, particularly in building digital infrastructure evenly. Furthermore, specifically, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology will continue its efforts to anticipate the impact of internet penetration, which has reached more than 78% of the total population. This is especially related to the technology access and digital connectivity gaps that are still evident in various dimensions, including the economic, social, and spatial aspects. Not only that, The Ministry also pays attention to the increasing cyber threats, data leaks, the spread of hoaxes, and the global increase in data flow, which is predicted to reach 780 exabytes per month by 2026.
