The Indonesian Embassy in Egypt is facilitating coffee entrepreneurs from East Java to further develop the coffee export market to Egypt. This includes the efforts of Hariyanto, a coffee business owner from East Java who has been doing business with Egypt for over 20 years. Hariyanto shared that his company typically produces 45,000 tons of robusta coffee per year, with an average of 10-15 thousand tons being exported to Egypt. During his visit to Egypt, he actively sought new potential coffee export markets and within a few days, he secured commitments for exporting 2,000 tons of coffee.
According to the Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt, based on the report from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the global coffee exports to Egypt reached USD 217.54 million in 2022, a 20% increase compared to USD 181.29 million in 2021. Meanwhile, Egypt's imports of coffee from Indonesia in 2022 amounted to USD 96.99 million, an 8.7% increase compared to USD 89.22 million in 2021. Indonesia held a 44.65% market share in 2022, followed by Vietnam with 18.02%, India with 10.78%, Brazil with 8.87%, and Uganda with 3.14%.
