Indonesia's 2024 Growth Impacted by Global Economic Outlook

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani stated that Indonesia's economic growth in 2024 will be influenced by global economic prospects. Her statement was in response to the faction's views on the economic growth assumption of 5.3% to 5.7% in the Macro Economic Policy and Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) of the 2024 State Budget. Mulyani explained that global economic growth prospects in 2024 are expected to improve, and trade volume is projected to increase. Domestically, consumption activities are predicted to strengthen, and the simultaneous elections are expected to boost economic activities. The State Treasurer also expressed hope for increased investment, particularly in downstream sectors, and emphasized the government's commitment to structural reforms to enhance the investment and business climate in Indonesia.

Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, acknowledged Indonesia's robust economic growth, surpassing the global average, and remaining stable amidst uncertainties. During a meeting with President Joko Widodo, Georgieva expressed the IMF's expectation for Indonesia to contribute assistance to other developing countries, particularly in poverty alleviation efforts. President Jokowi shared positive economic growth projections for Indonesia in the coming years, with the expectation of 5.1% growth in 2023 and 5% in 2024. These developments highlight Indonesia's favorable economic position and its potential to contribute to the development of other nations, especially in addressing poverty-related challenges.
